CLIENT CHALLENGES
- The client is a leading diversified business based in Southeast Asia, with interests in automobiles, oil and gas and other areas.
- The client wanted to develop net-zero strategies and programmes, and an ESG roadmap to advance their ESG ambitions.
OUR APPROACH
- Assessment of ESG practices
The project team analysed the client’s operations and activities impacting carbon emissions and identified Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. The team also studied the client’s social and governance practices and the ESG frameworks/guidelines they had adopted to govern their sustainability practices. This enabled the team to identify gaps in the client’s net-zero alignment and to design and help implement an informed roadmap. - Identification and analysis of technologies and methodologies
The team next focused on a peer benchmarking study to identify sectoral best practices and processes, methodologies and technologies adopted by peers to reduce carbon emissions. They then conducted a deep-dive analysis of these technologies based on an impact scale (low to high), a cost-benefit analysis and implementation timelines. The next step involved conducting a feasibility study of the different methodologies, processes and technologies identified through the peer-benchmarking process. This was done by interviewing key individuals responsible for carbon management and in positions of decision-making. - Development of strategies and targets
The team developed programmes and action items for different stages of the net-zero/ESG journey, along with timelines, targets and strategies to be followed. For operational aspects, the team developed KPIs to track progress. - Development of the overall roadmap
The team mapped the client’s strategy, targets and objectives for each stage of the ESG roadmap. They designed the structure of the roadmap and shared this with the client team for review, feedback and iterations, and finalised the implementation roadmap.

- Identified sectoral best practices in carbon management and net-zero operational practices
- Developed an informed and efficient net-zero roadmap to be implemented along with KPIs to track performance
- Integrated net-zero technologies, methodologies and processes into the existing operational framework
