created c.5,000 data points in the next-gen battery sector
-
boosted data collection and calibration
CLIENT CHALLENGES
- The client required support on Mandarin-language data research for its all-metal commodities and battery teams to significantly expand its coverage in China
- Due to language barriers and a lack of presence on the mainland, it was difficult for the client to access Chinese sources to conduct effective research
- The client wanted to significantly reduce time invested in rigid data collection and time to market
- The client also wanted to control costs
OUR APPROACH
- Maintained a close relationship with the client, deploying skilled analysts to support the commodities team
- Followed a rigorous process to hire China research analysts and staff the team with skilled analysts with bilingual skills
- Adopted our best practices to boost data collection and calibration through a robust communication framework and a strong emphasis on maintaining quality of deliverables
IMPACT DELIVERED
- Provided localised support and knowledge from our Beijing office on 11 types of metals through mining/processing for 600+ research tasks
- Provided significant support in data analysis, database creation and dynamic tracking, integrating with the client's team across the mining and battery supply chains
- Provided the client with a deep understanding of China’s cell-plant value chain and reduced the workload that would have taken 4,500 to handle
- Enabled the client to keep up with latest technology developments (e.g., High nickel 955) and created c.5,000 data points in the next-generation battery sector
- Conducted macroeconomic research on China’s mining, smelting, refining and battery sector policy and regulation in the past 12 years, and conducted a KPI analysis of key metrics/statistical benchmarks for the respective processes
