CLIENT CHALLENGES
- The client – a mid-level utility company – provides electricity to residential and commercial properties.
- At the time of our engagement, it was half-way through its ESG journey, reporting on ESG for the last few years and seeking TCFD integration and reporting.
- The client wanted Acuity Knowledge Partners’ Project Delivery team to conduct an in-depth climate-related risk and opportunity analysis to identify the most sensitive business locations and manage the finances considering climate-related risks.
OUR APPROACH
- Review of existing ESG practices
The Project Delivery team conducted a deep-dive analysis of the client’s existing ESG policies and programmes and prepared a list of comprehensive metrics to track climate-related and ESG-focused KPIs that were never addressed before. The analysis explored the client’s current climate management programmes and practices. Climate-related risks and opportunities were also analysed, followed by the development of relevant strategies and policies, which would form part of the final report. In addition, the Project Delivery team assessed the client’s risk management structure and reviewed current climate-related information/documents to align with the TCFD requirements - Materiality assessment
The team identified key stakeholders and potential material ESG issues (especially climate-related ones). It conducted a survey, collecting responses from stakeholders and matching them with those from the client’s management. The Project Delivery team also engaged in discussion with the client to finalise material topics. - TCFD report generation
After collating all relevant information including the client’s feedback, the Project Delivery team performed data-quality checks and sought support from the Editorial team and the Design team for the necessary artwork and branding to prepare a TCFD-focused draft report.
